After 2 Years Away, I Finally Picked Up the Camera Again

For two years, my camera sat untouched. Not because I didn't want to create. I did.
I thought about filming more times than I can count. I'd come up with ideas, mentally map everything out, and then convince myself it wasn't the right time. The lighting wasn't perfect. My home wasn't camera-ready. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to say.
Then another week would pass.
And another.
Before I knew it, two years had gone by.
Looking back, I can see that it wasn't a lack of ideas that kept me from creating. It was perfectionism.
I'd consider myself to be somewhat of a Type A personality. I'm competitive, mostly with myself, and for a long time, I tied my self-worth to how productive I was. I like having a plan. I like things organized. I like feeling prepared. Those qualities have served me well in many areas of my life, but they also have a flip side. When I don't think I can do something well, I tend to overthink it... and then overthink it some more. I wait until everything feels "ready," and in the process, my perfectionism stops pushing me forward and starts keeping me stuck.
Perfection quietly became my excuse for not showing up.
But over the last little while, I've realized something. Some of my favorite creators aren't perfect. They're real. They leave in the awkward moments. They laugh at themselves. They change their minds. They have messy houses, imperfect lighting, and days when things don't go according to plan. And somehow, that's exactly what makes them so relatable.
It reminded me that people aren't looking for perfection. They're looking for connection.
So I stopped waiting for the perfect moment, letting go of the idea that every video had to teach something profound and simply pressed record.
This vlog isn’t polished, and honestly, that's the whole point. There wasn't a big event or a life-changing milestone to capture. It was simply an ordinary day, letting the camera follow along.
Because the truth is, life isn't made up of highlight reels. It's built in the small moments, the ones we often overlook because they don't seem exciting enough to share.
And as I was editing this vlog, my heart reminded me of something important: life doesn't begin when everything is perfect. It begins the moment you decide you're enough to show up.
This is exactly what my digital diary represents: a collection of real moments, quiet reflections, and everyday experiences that capture what it truly means to live unapologetically bare.
You'll still hear me talk about alopecia because it's part of who I am, but you'll also see cozy moments. Books I'm reading. Skincare. Little adventures. Quiet weekends. The beautifully ordinary pieces of life that are worth remembering, even if they aren't extraordinary.
So thank you for being here. It feels really good to be back.
Now, as your bestie, you know I have to check in on you too…Have you ever let perfection stop you from doing something you really wanted to do? Or have you ever felt like your everyday life wasn't "interesting enough" to share?
Leave me a comment below—I read every single one.
Until next time,
xoxo,
Your Bald Bestie 💗
